The Canada Games were in Winnipeg from July 28 – August 13, 2017. This featured over 10,000 athletes and volunteers, over 8,000 room nights with an estimated economic impact of $153 million. The Forks was the epicentre for the games, festival and activities. This area featured a main stage (for bands), pavilions, vendor tents, food and beverage, attractions and all sorts of activities. Saturday, July 29 was Ontario Day as all the main stage entertainment were Ontario musicians, activities for were focused on Ontario and Ontario was featured with a MTCS tent/pavilion tending to the estimated 12,000 Forks’ visitors. Tourism Northern Ontario manned the booth/tent on behalf of MTCS and gave out 45 lbs. of St. Joseph Island Maple Candy, provided information and discussed tourism opportunities in Ontario. TNO tweeted live during the day sharing the activities with our followers, including being retweeted by the Minister. TNO shared the booth with the Coaches Association of Ontario and together represented the province very well. Ontario will definitely see some extra tourists from Manitoba this year and Ontario Day was a great success!
