2025-26 Workforce Development and Industry Training Highlights

Tourism Excellence North (TEN) has continued to play a critical role in supporting Northern Ontario’s tourism operators and communities. 2025-26 marked the completion of the Recovery Project, a three-year initiative designed to help the sector rebound from pandemic challenges. By enhancing TEN’s training, tools, and technology, the program has expanded its reach and strengthened its impact on the visitor experience and business performance across the region.

2025-26 Highlights
Completion of the Recovery Project, introducing:
New online and hybrid training options
An updated website
A Learning Management System (LMS)
A Customer Relationship Management (CRM) program

59% of TEN participants reported applying training content directly to their tourism business or community.
Program reach in 2025-26:
365 attendees in webinars
627 podcast downloads
80 participants in group workshops and one-on-one coaching


2026-27 Focus
Continue delivering tourism training and news through online platforms and tools.
Focus on delivering the Mentorship Program to 50% of TEN group workshop participants.
Deliver Community Tourism Assessment Index Sessions to create tourism  
asset inventories across Northern Ontario.
Strengthen partnerships with community leaders and tourism staff to support ongoing development and growth.
