Snowmobile from Hearst to Greenstone….and On and On: New Regional Trail Generates Excitement

“You’re telling me I can ride a new trail, over 200 kilometres, then once I get there, I can ride another 200, all while experiencing the beauty of the boreal forest? Yes please!”

That’s what Greenstone’s Tourism Coordinator Brent Henley says he’s been hearing a lot of lately.

After several summers of clear cutting by volunteers and funding from the OFSC, a 200 km stretch of snowmobiling trail from Hearst to Longlac will be groomed and ready for the 2017-2018 riding season.

Said Henley, “Without a doubt this new trail will quickly become a favorite for those who enjoy riding in Northern Ontario as well as attract new riders. Being connected to an existing trail system that has been driving winter tourism in Northern Ontario for years is extremely beneficial to the region”.

After arriving in Greenstone from Hearst, snowmobilers can spend another day riding the trails within Greenstone. And there are plenty of restaurants, hotels and locals who love to welcome visitors. Greenstone can also be the starting point for those who are travelling from points west as they can start in Longlac and snowmobile east into Hearst.
