Destination Northern Ontario works in all five ministry-mandated pillars.

  1. Investment Attraction
  2. Product Development
  3. Marketing & Communications
  4. Workforce Development & Industry Training
  5. Partnership Initiatives

Destination Northern Ontario undertakes a holistic approach to economic tourism growth in Northern Ontario. 50% of the organization’s budget is allocated to non-marketing pillars to improve tourism products, develop the tourism workforce and increase capital investments.

Destination Northern Ontario supports the enhancement of products, experiences and services available across the north. Our strategy guides decision-making as it relates to its Product Development pillar.

Destination Northern Ontario advocates for tourism investment in Northern Ontario and developing partnerships to support the goal of attracting investment. The strategy is now complete.

Destination Northern Ontario has undertaken tourism labour market initiatives in sub-regions 13A, 13B and 13C over the past two years. These documents offer a solid foundation from which to roll out workforce development and industry training initiatives.

Marketing programs that will continue to align and coordinate programs/tactics common to all sub-regions and encourage collaboration, refresh and implement the new five year marketing strategy.

For the past two years, Destination Northern Ontario has reached out to its sub-regions to help to identify potential partnerships that would align with the Province’s and our mandate.
